Daily Agenda
At Sweet Acres, summer camp is about much more than time in the saddle. Each day is thoughtfully structured to give campers a well-rounded horsemanship experience that balances riding instruction with hands-on learning, creativity, and fun. Campers spend time grooming, tacking up, and caring for the horses, learning responsibility and respect while building confidence in their abilities. These daily routines help children feel comfortable around horses and develop a strong foundation in horse care and barn etiquette.
Summer Camp Activities!
Mounted activities may include riding lessons tailored to each group’s skill level, trail rides when conditions allow at the end of the week, and skill-building exercises that improve balance, coordination, and communication with the horse. Unmounted activities are woven throughout the day to give riders a break from the heat and keep energy levels high. Camp favorites often include horse baths, groundwork sessions, learning to lunge, group games, and water-based activities like slip-and-slide time, which campers look forward to during hot summer afternoons.
We believe summer camp should feel engaging, supportive, and fun, while still offering structure and meaningful learning. Campers are encouraged to ask questions, try new things, and work together as a team. Friendships form quickly as children share experiences, cheer each other on, and celebrate progress throughout the week. Many campers arrive a little unsure and leave with greater confidence, independence, and pride in what they’ve accomplished.
Safety and supervision are top priorities at Sweet Acres. Our experienced instructors and staff closely monitor all activities and provide clear guidance to ensure campers feel comfortable and supported. Instruction is age-appropriate, encouraging positive behavior, patience, and responsibility. We strive to create an environment where every camper feels welcome, valued, and capable.
Summer camp at Sweet Acres also offers a refreshing break from screens and busy schedules. Time spent outdoors, moving their bodies, and connecting with animals allows campers to recharge in a way that feels natural and rewarding. Parents often tell us their children come home tired, happy, and excited to share stories from their day at the barn.
Whether your child dreams of riding regularly, loves animals, or is simply looking for a unique and enriching summer experience, Sweet Acres Horseback Riding Summer Camp offers a memorable week filled with learning, laughter, and connection. We look forward to welcoming your camper and sharing the joy of horses all summer long.
